Solid Rock Adventures (SRA) is an outdoor ministry of the
Western-Field of the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM). It is operated
by Yukon NCEM staff and associates. SRA's chief aim is to provide fun and
challenging adventures for families, youth and children in God's awesome
creation found in Canada's Yukon Territory.
Our title is inspired by the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 7:24,25:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them
into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain
came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock" (NIV).
We seek to combine northern outdoor experiences with the solid teachings of
Jesus Christ so that people can better withstand and overcome the storms and
pressures of life.
With this in mind, we offer the following opportunities:
CANOE CAMPS
These wilderness camps are held on long weekends (three-day camps). These
canoe camps are planned for mid-June through late July in the Yukon and northern
British Columbia.
A married couple would be the ideal help to facilitate ministry to both male
and female teens.
For more information on exact dates and other Yukon camp opportunities,
contact Tony Ens (address below).
We supply potential campers with a list of what to bring. Leaders qualified
in first aid and CPR will accompany each canoe group. We will also have
communication equipment in case of emergencies.
SRA staff will encourage the highest moral standards of purity, privacy
and respect. Campers who disregard these standards may be asked to leave at the
next possible place of pickup or not be allowed to return the following summer.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS (VBS)
A program will be run for three or four afternoons at each community chosen.
Games, crafts, singing, a Bible lesson, and a snack will be the common
activities for each day. Weather permitting, we will also go to a local lake for
some canoeing and fishing during one of the days.
NORTHQUEST YOUTH RETREAT (NQ)
The Native retreat is for ages 15 and up, and located at the Key-Way-Tin
Bible Institute (KBI) near Lac La Biche, Alberta. SRA's role is to provide
transportation and supervision for Yukon area youth to, during, and from the
retreat. NorthQuest is usually held in February of each year. The registration fee is
approximately $40.00 (which
covers meals and lodging at the retreat). There may be additional fees to cover
fuel and food for the trip to and from KBI.
SOLID ROCK ADVENTURES AND YOU!
SRA needs your prayer support. Here are some prayer needs we have at this
time:
1. Pray that our equipment needs will be met.
2. Pray that God will open the way for children, youth, and families to
participate in the various programs.
3. Pray for safety.
4. Most of all, pray that Jesus Christ would be honored and glorified and
that lives will change through Him.
