Programs & Courses
KBI offers a three-year program of
study which will provide students with a well rounded knowledge of
the Bible, as well as practical experience in a variety of settings
which will prepare them for both full-time and lay ministry.
Full-time students must enroll in one of the programs
listed on this page, and are required to take all of the courses in their program.
Students graduating with a Diploma will be prepared to take
positions in pastoral, missionary, Christian education, youth and
children's ministries, etc.
KBI graduates are presently serving with
various organizations such as Native Evangelical Fellowship of
Canada (NEFC), Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM) and its TV
Dept. (Tribal Trails), Indian Life Ministries, Continental
Mission, and North American Indigenous Ministries (NAIM). Some of
our grads have served short-term overseas; some are political
leaders, others in business or education, while involved in local
and national ministries.
KBI does not offer a degree program.
However, graduates have
been able to continue their studies towards a degree at several
accredited Bible colleges which have accepted transfer of a number of
KBI credits. (Some Bible schools transfer up to two or three years credit.)
PROGRAMS
DIPLOMA of BIBLICAL STUDIES PROGRAM
Students who take the three-year
Diploma of Biblical Studies program will graduate with a Diploma of
Biblical Studies. They must complete all the required courses (126.5
credit hours) and achieve a grade of 55% or better in each course.
They must satisfactorily complete a Summer Missions Internship and
must participate in KBI's Christian Service Program and must have
the approval of KBI.
WIFE's CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
This program of study is required for
wives who are unable to take the full Diploma program. It is
designed for wives with pre-school children and for wives who home
school. At KBI it is important that the wife receive encouragement
and instruction at the same time as the husband is taking his
program of study. (Baby-sitting responsibilities are shared with
other student wives and staff women.)
There are several courses that are
offered which assist wives in regards to the fulfillment of their
roles along with their husband's ministries.
Wives who take the Wife's Certificate
program will graduate with a Wife's Certificate. In order to receive
this certificate a wife must have completed all the required courses
(approximately 63 credit hours) with a grade of 55% or better for
each course. She must satisfactorily complete a Summer Missions
Internship and must participate in KBI's Christian Service Program
and have the approval of KBI.
CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Students who take the Certificate
program will graduate with a Certificate. They must take 63 credit
hours of courses and must audit another 63 credit hours. They must
satisfactorily complete a Summer Missions Internship and must
participate in KBI's Christian Service Program and must have the
approval of KBI.
PART-TIME STUDIES
KBI courses are taught in modules 3
to 15 weeks in length. Individual modules may be taken with the
corresponding credit and fees.

take a cross-cultural Summer Missions Internship like NMTC (NCEM
Missionary Training Course) and must take it before their last year
of Bible school. (NMTC usually lasts for six weeks, and begins in

APOLOGETIC COURSES
(AP 114) CHRISTIAN ETHICS -- 3 Credits (36
hours)
A scriptural study of the principles
and the problems in the development of moral character. A special
study is made of issues on which there is often disagreement which
face the true believer in today's world.
(AP A14) CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS

Credits (36 hours)
The foundational beliefs of the
Christian faith are examined in light of historical and contemporary
opposition. Evidences from Biblical and nonbiblical sources are
presented to confirm the claims of the Christian faith. The
objective of the course is to encourage the student to be confident
and firm in his/her convictions based on the Word of God.
(AP B12) CULTS & WORLD RELIGIONS

Credits (36 hrs)
A study will be made of present day
religious groups that are wrong in their teaching when compared with
the Bible. Careful attention is given to people who call themselves
"Christians" but teach a false gospel. Warnings are given
and ways of dealing with cults are presented from a strong Biblical
point of view. In addition, the student will study the fundamental
principles and general rules of good biblical interpretation, thus
equipping the student to accurately interpret Scripture.
BIBLE COURSES
(BI 111) BIBLE INTRODUCTION

The Bible Introduction course is an
introduction to the authority and inspiration of the Scriptures. It
includes a brief survey of the books of the Bible and how we got the
English Bibles we read today. The student will also learn methods of
studying the Bible for him/herself.
(BI 122) BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS

Credits (120 hrs)
A study that follows the work of God
beginning with Creation and proceeds through to the end of the Book
of Acts. Emphasis is given to the character of God; to the nature of
sin; to the progressive unfolding of God's work of redemption from
Abraham on; to the essentials of saving faith; to the birth, life
and work of the Lord Jesus; to the place and ministry of the Holy
Spirit in the believer and the Church.
(BI 131) GOSPEL OF JOHN -- 2.5 Credits (30
hours)
A thorough study of the book which
shows that Jesus is the Son of God. You will also receive help in
knowing how to share with others that by believing that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God, they can have life through His name.
(BI A15) I & II PETER -- 2.5 Credits
(30 hours)
An indepth study of I Peter will
help the student understand the role of suffering in the life of a
believer. The study of II Peter will show that believers must live
the truth and be on guard against false teachers.
(BI A24) JAMES -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
A verse by verse study of the Book of
James that teaches the Christian to practice what he preaches.
Special lessons to be learned will be: rejoicing in trials, being
content, showing brotherly love, tongue control, etc. Thus, faith
in God will be purified, patience will be produced and character
will be perfected.
(BI A33) MINOR PROPHETS -- 2.5 Credits (30
hours)
Many Christians know almost nothing
about eleven of these books. This course will cause you to benefit
personally from this portion of God's Word, as well as assist you to
have more confidence in using this part of God's Word in ministering
to others.
(BI A46) PASTORAL EPISTLES --
3 Credits
(36 hours)
A verse by verse study of I and II
Timothy and Titus shows the qualifications for Church leadership,
methods of dealing with false teaching, and problems in the church.
Personal applications are made.
(BI A54) POETICAL BOOKS -- 5 Credits (60
hours)
Each book will be studied as it
relates to a particular theme: Job - an exposure of the devil's
devices and the issues involved in the triumph of God through the
testing of Job's faith. Psalms - the revelation of God concerning
Himself and man as set forth in very diverse expressions of worship.
Proverbs - a God given foundation for development of a Biblical
world view. Ecclesiastes - the discoveries and conclusions of one
who tried all that the world could offer. Song of Solomon - the
development and triumph of love in a pure relationship. Practical
and personal application will be encouraged in all we learn.
(BI A66) REVELATION -- 2.5 Credits (30
hours)
A thorough study of prophetical
truths revealed to man by God concerning His divine plan for Israel,
the Church and the nations.
(BI A71) ROMANS -- 4 Credits (48 hours)
An in-depth study of the book based
on the theme of God's salvation. Emphasis is given to the utter
lostness of all mankind; and then to God's provision of salvation
through Jesus Christ from the penalty and power of sin; and the
logical outworking of that salvation which is living unto God in the
Church and in society until He comes.
(BI B14) DANIEL -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
An in-depth study of the book of
Daniel, in particular: the background, date, authorship, the life of
Daniel and his three friends, God's supreme authority over
individuals and nations, prophecies concerning the Gentile nations,
the nation of Israel, and the coming Kingdom of Christ.
(BI B24) HEBREWS -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
An in-depth study of the book of
Hebrews.
(BI B34) MAJOR PROPHETS -- 3 Credits (36
hours)
Students will gain a working
knowledge of the contents of the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah,
Lamentations and Ezekiel, and will be encouraged as they apply the
truths in these books to their personal lives.
(BI B46) NEHEMIAH -- 3 Credits (36 hours)
A study of the book of Nehemiah
revealing God's model for ministry. The student will learn the
principles of godly character and service, as well as many types of
opposition that will need to be faced and overcome if God's work is
to carry through to completion.
(BI B51) OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE CHARACTERS

Beginning with Joshua, a study of
various Bible characters will be made for the purpose of learning
from the illustrated life principles for the development of
Christian character and the application of Biblical truths for
living.
(BI B64) PAUL'S LETTERS -- 5 Credits (60
hours)
A study of I & II Corinthians,
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I & II
Thessalonians, and Philemon. Our study of each letter will begin
with a brief introduction on the particulars relating to the people
and issues involved. We will follow this with a chapter by chapter
study of the letter relating all the teaching to a central theme or
purpose set forth in that letter. Care will also be taken to insure
we see the message of each letter as it relates to us today, both as
individual believers and as the Church of Jesus Christ.
CHRISTIAN MINISTRY COURSES
(CM 116) PERSONAL EVANGELISM
-- 2 Credits
(24 hours)
In this course you will learn how to
lead someone to Christ as well as the Biblical basis for sharing the
message of salvation. Your ability to witness will increase as you
learn some do's and don'ts, memorize helpful Scriptures and actually
go out witnessing. Your desire to share the Lord Jesus Christ will
grow.
(CM 124) PUBLIC SPEAKING -- 2 Credits (24
hours)
This course will introduce the
student to the basics of public speaking. Some of the areas studied
are: dealing with your fears, preparing your speech, making your
voice heard, and platform manners.
(CM 135) TEACHING CHILDREN --
3 Credits
(36 hours)
This course will help you to teach a
Sunday school class, a cabin of kids at Bible camp, or a religious
instruction class in your local public school. We will mainly focus
on three areas: how to lead a child to Christ, how to teach
Scripture memorization, and how to make an evangelistic Bible lesson
from the Scriptures.
(CM 217) SUMMER MISSIONS INTERNSHIP

Credits (6.5 weeks)
A six and-one-half week cross-cultural practical training program. The program includes one week
of seminars and five weeks of village experience. This program is a
requirement for all students who wish to graduate and is to be taken
between their second and third year.
(CM A15) HOMILETICS -- 2.5 Credits (30
hours)
This course teaches the student how
to prepare and deliver textual, topical, and biographical sermons
and devotional messages. Practice preaching opportunities in class
help the student to learn to share God's Word in public.
(CM A22) PASTORAL MINISTRY --
2.5 Credits
(30 hours)
Instruction is given on baptisms,
funerals, weddings, dedications, communion, etc. Attention is given
to the subjects of leadership, team ministry, administration and
Body life.
(CM A24) INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP
SKILLS -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
This course examines God's view of
maintaining good relationships. What is the core problem when
relationships go bad? What does God say in His Word about dealing
with my inner problems and my relationship with Him and with others?
How is it possible to live in peace with all men? These questions
are addressed in this course.
(CM A35) WOMEN IN MINISTRY --
2.5 Credits
(30 hours)
This course is developed to instruct
the Christian woman in managing her personal life according to
Scripture. It deals with the relationship of the woman to work and
ministry, instilling within her the desire to develop her potential
for service in Christian living and ministry.
(CM B25) EXPOSITORY PREACHING
-- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
A course designed to develop
preaching that simply and accurately teaches the Scriptures in their
context and then effectively makes good application of that truth to
present day needs and issues.
(CM B33) TEACHING METHODS -- 2.5 Credits
(30 hours)
Students will discover how people
learn and remember. They will learn strengths and weaknesses of
various methods as well as tips for effective use. Finally, they will
employ these methods as they teach and grade each other in class.
(CM B45) THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH

This course will give the student
understanding in three main areas: 1.) The Biblical basis for
missions; 2.) The success and growth of the church; and 3.)
Principles of evangelism.
(CM B55) WOMEN BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

This course is developed to instruct
the Christian woman in managing her personal life according to
Scripture. It deals with the relationship of the woman -- to God, to
herself, and to others, instilling within her the desire to develop
her potential for Christian service.
GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES
(GE 115) PERSONAL FINANCES --
3 Credits
(36 hours)
This course examines scriptural
guidelines and principles that will help a Christian to handle their
finances in a way that will be pleasing to God. Students are
encouraged to begin using these principles in the daily management
of their finances.
(GE 122) WRITING & RESEARCH SKILLS
-- 3 Credits (36 hours)
This is a course which helps prepare
first-year students with skills for writing essays and papers
required in other classes.
SPIRITUAL LIFE COURSES
(SL 116) CHRISTIAN & FAMILY LIFE

Credits (48 hours)
The emphasis of this course is to
discover God's design and Biblical principles for relationships both
before and after marriage. A God honoring approach to marriage,
including healthy dating, is carefully explained to insure a
successful Christian life style as well as a happy marriage.
Instruction is given in areas of the individual's responsibilities,
attitudes, family devotions, etc., which will assist the home to
glorify God.
(SL 124) SPIRITUAL LIFE -- 4 Credits (48
hours)
This course provides instruction on
practical issues related to living a growing spiritual life in the
Lord Jesus Christ. Three main areas are studied: 1.) the Bible's
teaching concerning self worth; 2.) the importance of being a
forgiving Christian; 3.) on being filled with the Spirit.
(SL A12) DISCIPLESHIP -- 3 Credits (36
hours)
This course will show the student how
to be a successful follower of Jesus Christ and His teaching, and
will also teach the student to disciple others. A deep personal
commitment to the Lord is stressed.
(SL B16) INTRODUCTION TO THE SPIRIT
WORLD -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
This course deals with the realm of
the spirit world where all believers in Christ are to live. Students will be taught
steps for victorious living in this realm where our enemy also
operates.
(SL B22) CULTURE & NATIVE
SPIRITUALITY -- 2.5 Credits (30 hours)
This course will take a look at
issues of Native culture that relate to the Christian. Topics such
as: Cross-cultural communication, Indian religion, spiritual
warfare, the Christian and politics, etc.
THEOLOGY COURSES
(TH A12) THEOLOGY I -- 4 Credits (48
hours)
This course is a study of the
following Bible doctrines: Theology (the study of God) - His
nature, sovereignty and attributes; Christology (doctrine concerning
Jesus Christ) - His incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection &
ascension Pneumatology (doctrine concerning the Holy Spirit) - His
work in regeneration, baptism (Spirit), indwelling, sanctifying and
empowering.
(TH B12) THEOLOGY II -- 4 Credits (48
hours)
This course is a study of the
following Bible doctrines: Ecclesiology
(doctrine concerning the
Church) - her birth & descriptions, her members, her life, her
purpose, her ministry, her reward; Eschatology (doctrine concerning
future events) - the rapture, the tribulation, the millennium, the
second coming of Christ, and the judgments.
