from the NCEM Executive Committee:

Friends of NCEM and Key-Way-Tin Bible Institute will know that an important decision had to be made in regard to the future of our School situated at Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Numerous meetings of the NCEM and KBI Executive Committees and KBI staff were held over the past few years, and we really appreciate each of you for your prayers.

Criteria had been established in 2012 as to whether or not the School could continue, and on February 19 & 20, 2013 it was decided that there was not a clear direction from the Lord to continue Key-Way-Tin Bible Institute.

This was indeed a hard decision and was based on several factors. One was that we felt that the roles of Administrator and Maintenance Manager needed to be filled or, at least, have someone committed and preparing to come. However, no completed applications had been received. (KBI full-time staff are NCEM missionary members, and required to build their own team of prayer/financial supporters.)

Also, there were concerns for present staff. One teacher is leaving after this year and several others said that they could not commit to being here for more than a year or two. We felt strongly that there needed to be a two-to-three year period of stability at the School. Staff made it clear that they did not want to continue on a year-to-year basis with uncertainty, and that would still be the situation if we moved forward.

Thirdly, we have prayed for clear direction. We felt that the criteria set was not adequately met, that there were as many staff uncertainties now as in the past, and that we could not move forward on this basis.

As this chapter of KBI closes, please pray for the future of the staff, students and facilities.

God has used KBI over the years and we celebrated this at our Spring Conference & Graduation weekend, May 3-5, 2013. A special Saturday evening gathering commemorated God's faithfulness.

Future use of the Key-Way-Tin campus has not yet been determined. Our hope is that it will continue to be used in Christian ministry.

On behalf of the NCEM and KBI Executive Committees,
